Elite Cheerleader of the Month – Ambrosia A.! (July)

Cheerleader of the Month

Ambrosia A.

Elite is proud to present a new part of the Cheerleader of the Week program, Cheerleader of the Month!  Our cheerleader of the month is chosen from cheerleader of the week winners from all 4 of our facilities!  Cheerleader of the Month is a great honor and these athletes will also be eligible for our Cheerleader of the Year!

Ambrosia is an athlete that attends our North Metro Elite facility and is a member and captain of the Centaurus Varsity cheerleading team.   Ambrosia is a great example of the saying “hard work pays off”!  Our staff loves working with her, not only because of her great personality but also because she is constantly pushing herself to the next level!  In addition, it’s very clear that Amber truly cares about her teammates and their personal success.  Under her co-leadership of the team, the squad has become very close and follows her lead of a positive outlook.  Everyone at North Metro is thrilled that Ambrosia has been chosen for cheerleader of the month and know that she will live up to the honor!

Congratulations Amber on being this month’s Cheerleader of the Month!  Keep up the hard work!

Get to know our Cheerleader of the Month:

What grade are you in?

12

What school do you go to?
Centaurus High School

What Elite facility do you attend?

North Metro Elite! 🙂

How long have you been cheering?
Technically since my freshmen year, but when I was little my mom coached a 10-12 year old team that I was much too little to be on so I was the ‘mascot’ and had a matching mini uniform.

How long have you been a part of The North Metro Elite Family?
For three years now, but I wish it was four!

What do you like to do with your free time when you’re not cheering?
What free time? Cheerleading is not only my sport, it is also my hobby! However besides that, probably making stuff for my team or spending time with my friends.

What is your favorite part about being at North Metro Elite?
The environment and the coaches. The coaches invest so much time and effort into you and they really do want to see you improve and make them proud!

Favorite part of a cheerleading routine and why?
Honestly I love it all! If I had to pick it would probably be stunting even though it is the most nerve-wracking part! It just feels amazing when you get on the mat and hit that stunt sequence, that you’ve put countless hours and repetitions into perfectly.

What is your favorite Tumbling skill?
Anything running because I feel so powerful! But I also like my standing series to a tuck because you can do as many back-handsprings as you want and build up speed and power with each one.

What is your favorite tumbling skill or stunt sequence?

Running tumbling in general is so much fun because you feel like you have super strength! My favorite stunt is a giddy up to heel stretch because it is quick, easy, and fun! Also body positions are great to show off the flexibility that we all work so hard to get/ keep.

What it is that motivates you in practice or tumbling class?

“The fear of being average.” My passion for the sport and competitive nature really pushes me to always get better. There’s no such thing as being the best you can be, because you can always be a better version of yourself. Its hard to put into words what really motivates me because everything and everyone around me has played a role in making me who I am, and who I will become.

If you could give your fellow teammates some advice, what would it be?

My team mates actually quote me on this sometimes because they know I say it over and over again and it is what I live by:  Go into every stunt and skill knowing that it is going to be the best one you’ve ever hit. If you know it will be, how can it not? Confidence is the key to being successful in anything, especially cheerleading.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Surprisingly, I really want to be a cheer coach. There is nothing that I love more than the sport besides my family. My goal after college is to stay as involved in cheerleading as possible and for as long as I can both as an athlete and as a coach!

Describe your favorite cheerleading/tumbling related memory. Maybe a specific competition experience or a great day at practice.

Finals at state last year is my favorite memory because it really feels good to finally achieve a goal that you have always wanted. Even though we didn’t hit a perfect routine in prelims, getting to do it again in finals, we hit a great routine!

If a genie could grant you one wish, what would it be?

A white jacket and a ring obviously!
